(How very) Trying

Hello -thank you for being here.

So are you ‘trying’ too?

It’s hard work isn’t it. Trying to start something new, trying to achieve your goals, trying to create a better life. They don’t tell you any of this at business school, or on the guru webinars, or in the self help books. They don’t tell you that you’ll spend more time wondering whether to quit than time creating solid, robust long term plans. You’ll spend more time worrying about what to post on social media than actually talking to customers. It’s hard work - but then what else would you do?

So, in summary…

You are trying, and that’s the important bit. But lets stop pretending that it’s as easy as 1,2,3 - if it was easy everyone would be doing it. So instead let’s embrace the joy of trying.

Keeping it simple

You won’t have to worry about missing anything, every note goes straight into your inbox, saved on the Substack app and is easy for you to share and comment.

Thank you for being here - let’s try together.

Who am I?

I’m Eleanor Tweddell, an author, writer, coach, consultant, having had a 25 year corporate career working for Virgin Atlantic, Costa Coffee, RAC, Whitbread, Vodafone. I set up a change and communications consultancy working with clients including Bristol Water, Channel 4, Trinity Mirror, Anglo American, BAFTA and I founded a community, Another Door which helps people see change at work as an opportunity.

I also founded Recommended, a platform to showcase people who are helping us rethink work. Originally it was like by ‘little black book of contacts’ but now is growing into a great resource for people to find suppliers and experts.

I’m also a Penguin Random House author of Why losing your job could be the best thing that ever happened to you.

So as you can see, I’m very trying, and I’m here to share the real story of the highs and lows.
